FAMILY

Marriage and the family occupy a central position in God's plan for the eternal destiny of His children. The apostle Paul proclaimed that “neither is the man without the woman, neither the women without the man in the Lord” (1. Corinthians 11:11). God also commanded that within marriage man and woman should multiply and replenish the earth (Genesis 1:28), in other words that they should have children and found a family.

This theological basis has caused the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to set up and cultivate extensive programs and measures to promote marriage and the family. Despite all the differences of culture and civilization the Church of Jesus Christ manages to emphasize the value of the family worldwide and make it central in such a way that the life of the members of the Church is imbued with the awareness that marriage and the family extend beyond death - they are eternal.

The family thus forms the framework for the majority of our personal development. Love rules there, people help and teach one another and one person learns from another. Joy and sorrow are shared. The family can create some difficult challenges for people, but it can also provide some of the happiest moments of one's life.

As with everything that is valuable, relationships within the family require time and effort.
